BIOGRAPHY OF AMBASSADOR STEVE FERROL
Ambassador, Steve Ferrol is a Legal Specialist, Maritime Consultant/International lawyer by profession, employed with the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica from 1979. He currently holds the position of Secretary to the Cabinet from March 01, 2012. As Secretary to the Cabinet he is also the Head of the Public Service. He previously held the combined positions Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Employment, Trade, Industry, and Diaspora Affairs for eight years and was appointed Ambassador at Large in 2005. He was the first Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Dominica to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States from July 2011 to October 30 2012 .He is currently The Permanent Representative of the Commonwealth of Dominica to the International Maritime Organization.
He has long-term experience and training in areas of Maritime Law and Administration, Public Policy & Administration, Governance, International Law, International Trade, International Relations and Diplomacy, Labour Relations and Negotiations, and has represented Dominica at the highest levels in the region and internationally, in various disciplines.
Ambassador Ferrol’s other areas of public service and experience include the following positions namely: Maritime Administrator, Registrar of Ships, Deputy Permanent Representative of Dominica to the International Maritime Organization and Officer of the Customs and Excise Division. Other areas of service and experience include Deputy Chairman of the Dominica Port Authority, President of the Public Service Union and Diocesan, Catholic Youth Co-ordinator.
Ambassador Ferrol holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (L.L.B (Hons.) (Lon.), with the University of London and a Master of Law Degree LL.M. (Internal legal studies) with the University of East London.
