H.E. José Antonio Meade Kuribreña, Mexico’s Foreign Minister headed a delegation to Dominica to hold high level discussions with Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and other government officials. The meeting took place at the Fort Young Hotel on Friday, February 7, 2014. The visit by the Mexican Foreign Minister comes on the heels of a meeting between Prime Minister Skerrit and H.E. Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico, in Cuba recently. This visit further strengthens relations between Dominican and Mexico.
The Dominica Labour Party Government has pursued a foreign policy based on the principles that Dominica is now an active member of the regional and international communities and that our foreign policy must support our national interest.
Members of the Dominican delegation included Hon. Dr Collin McIntyre, Minister for Employment, Trade, Industry and Diaspora Affairs; Hon. Alvin Bernard, Minister for State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ambassador Steve Ferrol, and Secretary to the Cabinet, Ms Careen Prevost, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr Lucien Blackmore, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works, Energy and Ports and; Mr Don Corriette, Disaster Preparedness Coordinator (Ag.).
